1. About the Website

Forensicindia.com is an educational and professional platform for forensic medicine, forensic science and allied fields. It offers a knowledge library, an online museum, a law reference, a conference registry, case discussion, an advice service, online courses, live chat, a newsletter and related services.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to register. Students under 18 may use the Website only under the supervision of a parent, guardian or teacher.
  • Some services, such as answering advice requests or running courses, are open only to members whose qualifications have been verified by the administrators.

3. Accounts and security

  • Give accurate information: your real name, a working email address and your own WhatsApp number. One account per person.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at once if you think your account has been misused.
  • We may refuse, suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, gives false information, or puts other users or the Website at risk.

4. Membership, fees and refunds

  • E-Associate membership is free and needs no approval.
  • Full membership costs the annual fee shown on the membership page and runs for one year from the date of approval of payment. The administrators may grant an exemption at their discretion.
  • Course fees are set by trainers and shown on each course page.
  • Fees are not refundable once membership or course access has been given, except where a refund is required by law or the Website cancels the service. Payments made by mistake (for example, twice) are refunded on request after verification.
  • Fees and plans may change. A change does not affect a period you have already paid for.

5. Content you post

  • You keep ownership of what you post (cases, comments, questions, answers, conference listings, news, course material and uploads). You give the Website a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute it on the Website and in the newsletter, for as long as it remains on the Website.
  • You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it does not infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights.
  • Cases must be fully anonymised. Do not post names, faces, identifying marks, hospital or police numbers, or any detail that could identify a patient, victim, deceased person or accused. Follow the confidentiality duties of your profession and the law, including the rules on disclosure of the identity of victims of sexual offences.
  • Moderators may edit, hide or remove content that breaks these Terms or is off-topic, without notice.

6. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • post anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, threatening, hateful or harassing;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your qualifications;
  • send spam, advertising or chain messages, or collect other users' contact details for marketing;
  • upload viruses or harmful code, try to gain unauthorised access, or disrupt the Website;
  • copy the Website's content in bulk, scrape it, or republish it without permission;
  • use the advice or discussion services to obtain evidence or opinions for use against another person without their knowledge.

7. Intellectual property and content protection

  • The Website's design, logo, text, photographs of specimens, teaching material and compilations are owned by Forensicindia.com or its contributors and are protected by copyright.
  • You may view and print pages for your own personal study and non-commercial teaching, with credit to Forensicindia.com. Any other use needs our written permission.
  • Bare acts such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita are reproduced for reference. The official text published in the Gazette of India and on India Code prevails over the copy on this Website.

8. Advice, case discussion and law reference are not formal opinions

Answers in the advice section, case discussions, chat and courses are the informal views of individual members, given for education and guidance. They are not a medico-legal report, a post-mortem opinion, a medical consultation or legal advice, and must not be used in place of examination by a qualified expert or advice from a lawyer. The law reference and the IPC to BNS comparison table are study aids and may contain errors. Always check the official text before relying on it.

Paid consultations with experts in the DIFE and DGFC directories are also governed by the consultancy terms.

9. Conferences, courses and third-party services

  • Conference listings are added by members and organisers. The Website does not organise these events unless stated, and is not responsible for their content, changes or cancellation.
  • Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers under their own terms. The Website does not store card or bank details.
  • Links to other websites, including partner sites, journals and the WhatsApp group, are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

10. Communications

By registering you agree to receive emails and WhatsApp messages about your account, membership and the Website's events. The newsletter is sent only to people who subscribe, and every issue has an unsubscribe link. You can ask us to stop WhatsApp messages at any time through the contact page.

11. Privacy

We handle your personal data as described in the privacy policy, in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

  • The Website is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or free of harmful components, or that its content is complete or up to date.
  • To the fullest extent the law allows, Forensicindia.com, its administrators and contributors are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on content posted on the Website. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid to the Website in the twelve months before the claim.

13. Indemnity

You agree to compensate Forensicindia.com and its administrators for any claim, loss or expense arising from content you post or from your breach of these Terms.

14. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time by writing to us. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. Sections 5, 7, 8, 12, 13 and 16 continue to apply after your account ends.

15. Grievances

If you have a complaint about content on the Website or about these Terms, write to the grievance officer at webmaster@forensicindia.com or through the contact page. We will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and try to resolve it within 15 days.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continued use of the Website after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
